TASTE the local produce and have a great day out at the Gladysdale Apple and Wine Festival on Sunday, 7 May.
All the new varieties of the new season apples, as well as the juice of the local vineyards, are at the core of the festival which has become part and parcel of the Yarra Valley calendar over more than 20 years.
A regular feature in recent times is the enjoyment of wine tastings from the local wineries and, of course, local orchardists display many varieties of apples grown in the Valley, including new varieties.
Apple tastings are always popular and it’s a great opportunity for locals and visitors to purchase bags of apples fresh from the trees.
The 2006 festival is the 22nd Annual Apple and Wine Festival and, as always, will feature loads of attractions for all ages.
The original concept of the festival as a country-style family day, which celebrates the Apple and Grape Harvest in the Little Yarra Valley, has been retained over the years with free live entertainment, demonstrations and displays, games to play and lots of bargains at the market stalls.
Culinary cheese delights can be had on the grass with your wine or Devonshire tea.
A grand raffle is run in conjunction with the festival with lots of great prizes, including first prize of a trailer and gardening goods to the value of $1250.
The Festival is held in the grounds of the Gladysdale Primary School just five kilometres from Yarra Junction along Little Yarra Road on the way to Powelltown.
