DE BORTOLI Wines has declared its sponsorship as major wine provided to the Commonwealth Games a winner, not only for the winery, but for the Yarra Valley as a wine and tourist destination.
De Bortoli’s project manager for the Games Liz Matthews said that while the numbers are still being crunched, the feedback at events and from visitors to the Dixons Creek winery had been wonderful.
She said it is the first time Victorian wines have been available at a major event and that the experience had been good for Victorian wines in general. “I would say the Yarra Valley would have definitely gained by our sponsorship.
“Every time De Bortoli wines were mentioned the Yarra Valley was also mentioned in glowing terms, just an hour from Melbourne and a great place to visit,” Ms Matthews said. De Bortoli Wines was also involved in the Queen’s Baton Relay event in Healesville and the Opening Ceremony Celebration at Lillydale Lake which Ms Matthews said were great community events which De Bortoli was pleased to be part of.
