Rob’s season of cycling success

CHUM Creek cyclist Rob Amos finished a successful season at the Australian Veteran Cycling Championships at Ballarat recently.
More than 165 of Australia’s top veteran riders competed in the five age groups from 35 plus to 75 plus.
Starting with a spectacular win in the Criterium Championship, a road race on a short course, Mr Amos followed up the next day with a second place in the road race in the same time as the winner, Garry Gullock – a silver medallist at the Los Angeles Olympics in rowing.
During the 2005 season Mr Amos, who races regularly with the 200 strong Eastern Vets Cycling Club, has bagged two Victorian State Road Titles as well as the Club Age Championships in the Criterium, Time Trial and Road Race.
He also won the Masters Category – 40 to 50 years – over five races in the Fat Tyre Flyers winter mountain bike series.
