THE pre-Christmas deluge helped Warburton to an above-average rainfall of 128.5mm, exceeding the December average of 109.7mm..
Rain was recorded on only six days. But overall the land of “drought and flooding rains” lived up to its reputation in Warburton last year with only 1137mm for the year, a far cry from the average of 1343.3mm.
In Healesville 83.3mm fell over 10 days last month. The heaviest rain was during Christmas week, with 33.5mm on 22 December and 24mm on 23 December.
And while other parts of the country suffered severe flooding, Melbourne’s storage dams remained in a sad state, holding only 39.2 per cent of capacity.
This time three years ago, they held 60.5 per cent and two years ago it was 58.5 per cent.
