WHEN you have great wine, great food and great music… a little rain you can put up with!
The philosophy proved itself on Sunday when 14 Warburton Highway wineries opened their doors as part of Shedfest Yarra Valley Wine Festival.
John D’Aloisio, chairman of the Warburton Highway Wineries Association, said his winery, Seville Hill, said a similar number of visitors attended last year’s event but admits a fine, sunny day would have been nice.
“A lot of people don’t know these smaller wineries are here but once they find them they are very impressed with everything from the quality of the wine to the views.”
Judy Zuk of Five Oaks Winery in Seville said the feedback from other wineries, including Burghi Hill and Yarra Burn, was that they were very pleased with the fourth Shedfest.
“The weather is always a factor but there were no grizzles and lots of people enjoying themselves.”
Mrs Zuk said Shedfest is making people aware of the Warburton Highway wineries and what they have to offer.
“Apart from the great wine, having a lot of smaller wineries in the area means people have time to meet the principals and talk with the wine-makers so it is a great experience for them.”
Mr D’Aloisio and Mrs Zuk said the WHWA may look at making Shedfest a two-day festival to increase the odds adding great weather to the great wine, great food and great music!
