COMMUNITY meetings in Mt Evelyn and Healesville this week will give Shire of Yarra Ranges residents the chance to have a say on the shire’s draft Housing Strategy and Action Plan.
Meetings in Upwey, Yarra Junction and Lilydale have attracted large crowds.
The consultation period has been extended as a result of the strong interest shown since consultation began in September.
Yarra Ranges mayor Tim Heenan said he welcomed the feedback.
He said a major focus of the draft Housing Strategy and Action Plan was on enabling people to ‘age in place’ by having the opportunity to downsize into smaller accommodation in their local area as they get older.
The strategy also aims to manage the forecast moderate population growth expected to occur in the municipality over the next 25 years.
Consultation meetings, starting at 7pm, will be held at Mt Evelyn RSL Hall on Thursday 22 November, Healesville Memorial Hall on Monday 26 November and at Mooroolbark Community Centre on Thursday 6 December.
Closing date for submissions is 14 December.
