TO SORT, or not to sort? That is no longer the question for snail-mail posters in Healesville!
Concerns about a reduction of service when the “local mail – 3777” post box disappeared from the front of the former post office at Healesville Walk a few weeks ago were quickly dispelled by Australia Post.
Don’t worry, was their response; it seems the mail hasn’t been sorted locally for years.
Australia Post spokeswoman Nadine Lyford told the Mail, for five years, maybe more, all mail collected in Healesville has been bundled up together and taken to the Dandenong sorting facility where it was processed and returned to Healesville for (hopefully) next-day delivery – the same as in the good old days when it was sorted locally.
That sorts that out!
