A 51-YEAR-OLD Yarra Junction woman was airlifted to The Alfred hospital on Saturday after crashing her car into a tree off the Healesville Kooweerup Road.
Healesville Police Sergeant Tony Van Gorp said the women, the only occupant of the car, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree just after 3pm between Toolbewong Road and Maroondah Highway.
Badger Creek CFA captain Nic Rodway said the brigade responded to a car fire but found the woman injured in the car when they arrived.
He said local residents who had witnessed the smash had gone to the woman’s aid.
“We assisted by providing initial first aid to the lady until the ambulance arrived,” Mr Rodway said.
The air ambulance landed in a near-by paddock to transport the woman who Sgt Van Gorp said had suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
