NESTLED among hundreds of aromatic herb plants, The Restaurant at the Lillydale Herb Farm offers a unique, sensory dining experience.
Tucked away, as it is, in a quiet area on the outskirts of Lilydale, the restaurant combines a quaint, rustic setting with an intimate, fine dining experience.
Raylene and Gary Nye have been at the helm of the long-established restaurant for just over a year and, together with head chef Eddie Basich, they have created an environment which works equally well for a delicious light lunch, an intimate dinner or a special function.
The gardens surrounding the restaurant are an aromatic and visual feast while in the dining room they have created a contemporary Mediterranean style menu which is designed to thrill the taste buds.
The menu reflects the restaurant’s reputation for quality dining with an excellent selection of mains, including signature dishes, stuffed chook – a tender chicken breast filled with a semi sun-dried tomato and fetta pesto, and The Perfect Steak – a premium 250gm eye fillet steak, charred to your liking.
The entrees also offer plenty of choice with the Slovak Cabbage Roll and the North African Mezze Platter coming highly recommended.
The irresistible selection of desserts includes Lemon Verbena Panacotta, Chocolate Macadamia Tart and, for those who just can’t decide, The Herb Farm Le Grand Platter caters for two or more with a selection of desserts to share. Problem solved! At lunchtime a specials board provides some casual and lighter options.
The summer months ahead are ideal for alfresco dining, overlooking the herb garden. A stroll through the nursery and gift shop adds to the experience.
If you are planning a function – anything from a work get-together to a wedding – talk with Raylene or Gary about creating an atmosphere and a menu to suit your individual needs.
The Restaurant at the Lillydale Herb Farm is at 61 Mangan’s Road, Lilydale. Phone 9739 6899.
