WARBURTON Community Bank has added another feather to its cap with the purchase of its own building to be finalised this week.
Yesterday (Monday), the bank was due to take possession of the historic building it has called its home since opening in 2000.
Warburton Community Bank secretary and treasurer Geoff Vickers said the bank’s board and staff were delighted to be taking up permanent residence in the building, located in the centre of town on the Warburton Highway.
“The building has been our home since we opened for business in 2000 but it has only been recently that we’ve been in a position to look at purchasing it,” he said.
“Fortunately, the owner is now in a position to sell and we’ve been able to make the financial arrangements necessary to make the purchase happen.”
Mr Vickers said acquiring the building was a major achievement for the business.
“It is something to celebrate and feel proud of. It is an achievement that gives the staff and our customers a greater sense of security and ownership,” he said.
“It makes good business sense but it also sends a message to the community that the bank is here to stay.”
Mr Vickers said the bank had been looking to invest a reserve of funds when the opportunity to purchase the building arose.
“We had the funds available to invest in something like this and it was our preferred option to purchase the bank building,” he said.
“We believe the purchase secures our future in the town.”
