Club president is honoured

By Dion Teasdale
YARRA Valley resident Phyllis Dixon has been nominated for the 2005 Premier’s Award for Victorian Senior of the Year.
Ms Dixon was nominated for the award for her hard work and commitment to the Yarra Valley Over 50s Friendship Club in Coldstream and her participation in local community projects.
Evelyn MP Heather McTaggart visited the Friendship Club earlier this month to present Ms Dixon with a certificate of appreciation from Premier Steve Bracks acknowledging her nomination.
“I am delighted to present this Certificate of Recognition and Appreciation to such a thoughtful and energetic lady,” Ms McTaggart said.
“Phyllis Dixon is a most worthy recipient and it is wonderful that her 11 years of hard work and commitment to this club is acknowledged.”
Ms McTaggart said the Premier’s Award and the Council on the Ageing Victoria Senior Achiever Awards helped recognise the contribution older Victorians make to the community.
“I would like to congratulate Phyllis Dixon on this wonderful achievement.
“It is such selflessness and dedication that inspires fellow citizens and strengthens communities,” she said.
