YARRA Range’s FReeZa committee is getting set to pump out some phat beats to local youth with a disability or special needs.
“The FReeZa committee recognised that although they have held a lot of events for youth, they haven’t done much for this particular group of people in the community,” said Youth Services spokeswoman Belinda Chalmers.
“This will be the first one and FReeZa members are hoping it will become the first of regular events for these young people.”
Billed as “the dance party of the year” the event at the Kilsyth Memorial Hall will be fully supervised and is drug, alcohol and smoke free.
The hall is wheel chair friendly and entry is $5 (including a free glowstick) with carers admitted at no charge.
All proceeds will go to Scope, an organisation dedicated to helping youth with special needs and their families.
Ms Chalmers said that by encouraging attendance at the event FReeZa members are hoping young people with a disability, or special needs, will then feel more comfortable about attending other FReeZa events throughout the year.
