THE Upper Yarra Arts Centre is launching its 2006 theatre program with a sassy 90 minutes of variety entertainment headed by the The Soubrettes.
The Soubrettes Variety Hour and a Half promises a wicked night of satire, sassy burlesque, improvisation and Vaudevillian escapades.
Alice Carter and Tania Kyriakou as The Soubrettes are the feature act garnishing their songs with silly dance routines and even sillier one-liners which make the most of material which is intelligent, witty and provocative.
They are supported by an ensemble of quirky acts including Steg and Durk from Europe, the wonderfully batty Russian barrel-girl Princess Sputnik and Michael Dalley, winner of several green room awards for hit show Vaudeville X.
The Soubrettes and company were a hit at last year’s Comedy Festival.
The Soubrettes and friends will be at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre on Saturday, 25 February. Bookings are open on 5966 5160.
