SEC Gives Powelltown Residents a Shock
PROPERTY owners in the Gladysdale Powelltown area who have been agitating strongly for the extension of SEC power along Little Yarra Road received an unexpected setback.
The SEC advised the Upper Yarra Shire Council that the scheme had been placed on a list of proposed extensions for investigation only.

THE Happy Gang Club is the title of the new teenagers’ club formed at Wesburn. The president is Miss S. Easton, secretary Miss B Nichols and chaperones are Mrs. W. Hayward and Mrs. A. Hughes.
Woori Yallock’s Church of England Education Week Services were held at Yarra Junction, Woori Yallock and Warburton.
Woori Yallock did a fine job thanks to Mrs. P. Falkenburg, Margaret Ockwell, Faye McDonald and Beverly Leonard.

Auction
AN IMPORTANT auction sale will be conducted next Tuesday, August 25, when the furnishings of the wellknown guest house ‘Glen Alvie’ will be offered for sale.
The property itself will also be put under the hammer prior to the furniture sale.
The property comprises a well built weatherboard house of 6 bedrooms, a very large dining room, kitchen, pantry and washouse (sic) and bathroom, 2 bungalows, electric light, water and telephone installed.
The land contains half an acre with lawn, shrubs and garden.
This is one of the most desirable properties in Healesville.

Council Elections
THE annual municipal elections will be held at Healesville on August 27 and although public interest does not appear to be excited on the surface, there is keen and energetic work being done on behalf of the 5 candidates Mr. W. J. Dawborn, Crs. Kay and Taylor and Messrs. Varcoe and Veer are fighting for the three vacancies.

Healesville Football Club
THERE was a large attendance at the meeting of the Healesville Football Club on Wednesday evening.
The president, Mr. C. M. Graham, congratulated the players on the excellent performances during the season.
He said the committee were doing their utmost on behalf of the team.
It was due to the people of the town and district who had given such fine moral and financial support to the club that the players should strive their hardest to bring the premiership honors to Healesville.
