On the floor

YARRA Glen Floors, a local family owned and operated business, officially opened its new Healesville shop last week.
Owners John and Jeanette Osborne have expanded the business after nearly 25 years operating from a factory and showroom in Armstrong Grove, Yarra Glen.
The Osbornes decided to move their showroom to the heart of Healesville’s retail strip to keep up with demand, and will continue to operate the factory in Yarra Glen.
“We got to the point where we needed more storage and thought it would be a good move to bring the showroom to Healesville,” John said. “We’ve always done about 80 per cent of our work in the Healesville area and we get a lot of people coming to us from nearby places such as Yea, Eildon, Alexandra and Marysville.”
The move to Healesville, about five weeks ago, has already proven to be the right step forward, Jeanette said.
“Since we opened we’ve been very busy. There are always customers coming in wanting to look at our rugs, carpet and vinyl display,” she said. “It is really very exciting to be expanding like this. This has always been a great business and it’s exciting to watch it grow.”
A key part of the success, John and Jeanette said, has been the support and hard work of their family.
“Our son Darren Osborne and son-in-law, Roger Gordon, have both completed their apprenticeships with us and continue to play an integral part in the business,” John said. “Roger is now training his own apprentice, Daniel Downing – another Yarra Glen boy, who has joined our family team.”
