HEALESVILLE’S football, netball and junior football clubs are following up their 2006 BABBA concert success with another star-laden fund-raiser.
The Mighty Oz Rock band, made up of some of Australia’s finest musicians from the biggest Aussie bands of the past four decades, is coming to Healesville with their all-Australian show on Saturday night, 6 June.
“This year the event is a little different to last year’s,” said event organiser, Stuart Aldridge.
“We’re taking out the guest speaker and the auction and making it more of a social night with more music and a theme to make it interesting.
“We thought it would be good to dig out some Australiana clothing and gimmicks to coincide with the band.”
The Mighty Oz Rock band members include Gary Young from Scarecrow, Roger McLachlan from Little River Band, Mick Pealing from Stars, Lisa Mio from John Farnham’s crew and Bob Spencer from the Angels, perform only Australian classic hits such as Howz ‘at, Evie, Friday on My Mind and April Sun in Cuba.
Mr Aldridge said all the money raised will go to the clubs to upgrade facilities and support the teams.
“The night is open to the general public, you have to be a club member to come along,” said Mr Aldridge.
“It’s not often a band like this comes to Healesville where you don’t have the hassle of travel, so we want everyone to join us and have fun.
“The band will take people back to their teenage years and play songs that they will relate past time too.”
A free courtesy bus will run from the Grand Hotel in Healesville to the Don Road Sporting Complex on the night.
Tickets, $25 a head, can be purchased at senior and junior football club canteens during home games, or by phoning 0402 464 511 or 5962 1021. Tickets are also available at L.J. Hooker in Healesville.
