LEADING wine industry experts were given a glimpse of the soontobeopened Giant Steps winery in Healesville last week as part of the sixth Yarra Valley Wine Program.
About 50 nationally and internationally recognised wine writers, restaurateurs and wine buyers gathered in the Yarra Valley for the program on 78 September.
It attracted food and wine industry experts from across Australia and New Zealand along with trade and media representatives from Melbourne, and buyers from some of Australia’s leading restaurants.
One of the highlights was a tasting of 16 Yarra Valley grown and produced chardonnays at the Giant Steps winery on Maroondah Highway in Healesville. The winery is due to begin operation in a month and the cellar door and the restaurant to be housed in the building were expected to open early next year.
The Wine Program includes intensive seminars which evaluates about 80 Yarra Valley wines in a forum style.
