THE Warburton Millgrove Cricket Club is looking for help with two of their junior development programs.
Interested parents are needed to coordinate the Milo HaveAGo Program and the Under 10 Development Competition.
The Milo HaveAGo program is a fun, introductory cricket program for girls and boys aged from five to 10. The program runs for 12 weeks at cricket clubs and some schools throughout Victoria each cricket season.
The aim of the program is to introduce children to cricket skills and activities in a structured way with an emphasis on fun.
The club funds all equipment and ground facilities for the program. There are no membership fees, it is a free program for children wanting to learn about cricket.
Accreditation is available for coordinators and is funded by the club. Players and officials will also assist in running the program which aims to start in late October and run through to the end of February with an extended Christmas break.
Club official Garry Lewis said the program will only run if sufficient volunteers can be found to coordinate the program.
Under 10 Competition
THE Under 10 Development Competition is a new initiative by the Yarra Valley Cricket Association which will run on Friday evenings for 10 to 12 weeks. It will give children the fundamentals of playing cricket as well as the skills.
“Again, we are looking for volunteers to coordinate the program which will be free and run over a similar period to the Milo Cricket,” Mr Lewis said.
“Again, this program will only run if we receive volunteers to coordinate the event,” he added.
Anyone who would like to volunteer their time to assist local children get involved in cricket can contact Mr Lewis on 5966 5386 or Rodney Mckail on 5966 2659.
