THE Shire of Yarra Ranges will host a free “stress less” forum for Mental Health Week to help raise awareness about youth-related stress.
The 9 October forum at Lilydale Heights College Performing Arts Centre will include psychologist Michael Carr-Gregg and ex-Carlton footballer Adrian Whitehead.
The forum aims to help young people, families and community service providers better manage the impact of study-related stress on young people’s lives.
Yarra Ranges mayor Tim Heenan said the free forum was an excellent opportunity for families to glean advice from an expert in the field.
“Michael Carr-Gregg is an excellent speaker with extensive media experience,” Cr Heenan said.
“And Adrian Whitehead’s personal experiences of stress as a football player and coach and his story will inspire young people and their families.”
The Stress Less forum is part of the shire’s Mental Health Week celebrations that also include a short film and a book launch and community picnic.
The forum will be at Lilydale Heights College on Tuesday 9 October from 6.45-9.15pm.
Entry is free with supper provided.
RSVP by Monday 1 October to the shire’s youth services on 9294 6716 or email youthservices@yarraranges.vic.gov.au
