Wandin fall short

By Keith Thompson
WANDIN, chasing Seville’s 275 from last week, were going well in the early part of the chase but eventually fell short.
John Aumann and Scott Hasan batted well early but the best performance came from Gary Frankovic with 95 but in the conclusion Wandin were bowled out for 241 still short of the required score. Dean Troyahn led the Seville attack with 20 overs 5/56.
In the Yarra Panthers v Warburton-Millgrove, disappointingly, no scores were received.
Mt Evelyn 198 from day one with Healesville starting at a low position with four batsmen already in the pavilion could only manage 160 all out to give Mt Evelyn the win. The best Healesville batsmen were J. Powell (42) and Glen Newbury (37), while Chris Anderson had good figures of 6/47.
At Coldstream Cricket Ground, Yarra Junction had 246cc on the board. Coldstream chasing this tally on a fine cricket day could only manage 195 with Liam Doughty (57) and John Pignataro (38) endeavouring enough to win the match, but Yarra Junction bowlers Nathan Fall and Geoff Fall took 3/83 and 2/10 respectively.
Woori Yallock reached 9/301cc (Tim Diggins 100, Mark Appleby 3/35, M. Sullivan 3/65) to defeat Silvan 165 (T. Diggins 3/20, Andrew Sharp 3/32).
In the Finger Trophy grade, Launching Place United with 138 and 1/41 (Cameron Hoare 54, Luke Sarre 4/55) lost to Gruyere Districts 181 (A. Vassallo 40, L. Sarre 83*). M. Macklins took 5/94 and Glen Abrol 4/39.
Kinglake 248 (K. Sherring 57*, Ben Munn-Gibbs 39, D. Reid 39; S. Simmonds 3/52) defeated Hoddles Creek 181 (M. Batten 42, S. Price 37; David McMahon 4/64, Ben Munn-Gibbs 2/17, Dave Reid 2/19).
In the RAFT 3 grade, Marysville’s Kevin Beard had a day out with the ball taking 7/12 against Hoddles Creek at the lovely Marysville Cricket Ground. Marysville 129 and 1/85 (P. Hilder 52*, A. Rowe 23*; T. Hanley 4/27, D. Chesney Sr 3/40) were too strong for Hoddles Creek 55 (K. Beard 7/12) and 6/69 (J. Lloyd 3/7).
