Scots gathering

THOSE with Scottish ancestry are meeting at Gulf Station to celebrate their heritage.
Some of those attending may have had an ancestor a passenger on the barque David Clark which sailed from Greenock on 15 June, 1839, carrying 230 Scots.
The Scottish Descendants’ and Pioneers’ Day is on Saturday, 24 March.
Gulf Station’s pioneering Bell family were Scottish. William Bell arrived on the David Clark.
Gulf Station will highlight its Scottish and pioneer heritage on the day with genealogical experts from the Scottish Ancestry Group, historical displays, demonstrations of pioneer skills, musical entertainment and dancing and the popular Police Pipe Band and more.
The annual Scottish celebration is one of many events organised as part of the three day Melba Festival which takes place on 23, 24 and 25 March. For further information of the Gulf Station event phone 9730 1286. For a full Melba Festival program phone 5965 2559.
