Medal winners take a bow

By Kath Gannaway
A PACKED Lilydale International witnessed one of the more exciting Ramage Medal nights seen in the YVMDFL for some time.
Healesville’s Matthew Stolarczyk took home the main award, winning the First Division Best and Fairest by two votes from Upwey-Tecoma’s David Van Hoorn.
Earlier in the night, there had been drama with the Second Division Seniors award resulting in a tie between Warburton’s James Iacono and Alexandra’s Neil Oakley, after the leading vote-getter, Ben Ryan (Yarra Junction), was ineligible due to suspension.
In netball, Monbulk’s Melinda Whitworth was a runaway winner of the Chandler Medal in Division 1 – A Grade after receiving 44 of a possible 54 votes for the year, while Alexandra’s Loren Miller took home the equivalent award in Second Division.
