THE CORONER investigating the deaths of two Healesville paramedics is scheduled to hand down his findings this week.
Coroner Phillip Byrne will deliver his findings into the deaths of Robert Bland and Phillip Oakley at an informal hearing on on Thursday (16 February).
Mr Bland and Mr Oakley were killed on 2 January, 2004 after the ambulance they were travelling in crashed on a bend on the Black Spur between Healesville and Narbethong.
Ambulance Employees Australia (AEA) has called on the coroner to hand down a number of recommendations as part of his findings.
The recommendations include a request that the Metropolitan Ambulance Service’s (MAS) vehicle inspection, crash investigation and dispatch protocols be overhauled.
