COMMUNITY members are invited to attend the gala re-opening of the Warburton Mechanics Institute Hall next week.
The 109-year-old hall has undergone a $1 million refurbishment over the past year after a 15-year community campaign to return it to its former glory.
Cindy Smith, Yarra Valley regional arts coordinator, said the re-opening of the hall would be a chance for the community to celebrate.
“Everyone is invited to join in on the festivities and enjoy a night of live community entertainment and celebrations,” she said.
Ms Smith said the event would include and official opening, a variety concert featuring local performers, a swing dance and sausage sizzle.
“Local tap group the Taptations, a choir featuring students from local schools and local legend Ron Howard will all star,” she said.
“Later in the night B-Sharp, Melbourne’s premiere swing band, will perform live and the evening will finish with a fire performance by the Sooper Dooper Circus.”
Ms Smith said the event would officially mark the handing over of the refurbished hall, back to the Upper Yarra Community.
The gala re-opening of the Warburton Mechanics Institute Hall will be held on Saturday, 25 November from 7pm onwards.
Entry is via a gold coin donation.
