Ruff shave for smoother look

HEALESVILLE resident Steve Ruff has raised more than $800 for the Leukaemia Foundation as part of the World’s Greatest Shave To Care and Cure.
Mr Ruff, 47, shaved off the head of hair he has worn since he was 13 years old as part of a fundraising event held at Healesville’s Grand Hotel on Saturday, 6 May.
Five other local residents, including the Grand Hotel’s manager Des Harrington, also had their heads shaved and a dozen residents had their hair coloured.
Mr Ruff, whose 35-year-old hair was more than 60cm in length, admitted to experiencing a little separation anxiety before the chop.
“I had to take the morning off work before the shave to spend time with my hair, and I shampooed and conditioned it twice as a bit of a send off,” he said.
Once the hair was gone though, Mr Ruff said he was pleased he had made the decision to do it for a worthy cause.
“The shave feels good and its good knowing we’re raising money for a good cause.”
