Warburton fights back

Strachan Shield
An extremely disappointing batting performance saw Warburton dismissed for 127 by Silvan. L. Barnard 29 and L. Darwall 38 were the only ones to get a start as the rest were appalling. M. Appleby bowled brilliantly to take 5/8 in a significant effort for Silvan. In reply, Silvan are struggling at 5/51 as L. Darwall 3/19 and M. Walker 2/30 wreaked havoc.
Finger Trophy
Warburton batted all day against Hoddles Creek on a slow outfield to reach 170. B. Hanson 40 and D. Egan 43 were the top scorers, while J. Crew took 4/30 in a good performance.
D Grade
Warburton batted first against Seville and put on several good partnerships to amass a wonderful total of 7/336. N. Taylor 54 and J. Jones 53 put on an 87-run partnership highlighted by sensible running between the wickets. J. Jones and T. Kelly 45 then put on a 79-run partnership to set up a great total. J. Coghlan opened the innings with an attacking 43. A. McInerney 2/92 and M. Johnson 2/44 were Seville’s best bowlers.
Under 16
Playing the top side, Healesville White, Warburton batted superbly to reach 6/249. D. Hajder and G. Morris, both with 50 not out, put on a brilliant opening partnership. Then J. Coghlan 40, Lucas Smith 21 and A. Calder 19 guided the others to a wonderful total. R. Scanlon took 2/52.
Under 12
Batting first against Healesville Red, Warburton batted all day to finish on 8/107. J. Winter 3/retired and J. Segal 14 were the top scorers.

Yarra Junction Cricket Club

Under 16
After losing the toss to Woori Yallock, Yarra Junction bowled and the first wicket fell at 35 with B. Monkhorst making 17 being bowled by J. Oakley. Then A. Rowe was caught by D. Bevan off K. Colling for a well-made 37. With the score at 80, T. Johnston came to the wicket and batted well to make 40 off 21 overs only to be caught by H. Nightingale off G. Reynolds.
However, Woori Yallock were bowled out for 158 after 42 overs.
The pick of the bowlers were D. Bevan 3/19 off 6 overs, and K. Colling 2/28.
At the end of day’s play, Yarra Junction were 1/4 having to bat 3 overs.
Under 12A
Yarra Junction won the toss and chose to bowl against Woori Yallock, who made 4/183 off 45 overs on Woori Yallock Primary School.
Under 12B
Yarra Junction won the toss and chose to bat against Coldstream.
Jake Galea was run out for 0 with the score on four bringing Tyson Long to the crease. He retired on 10 not out. Runs continued to flow with D. Boxell retiring on 32. After all batsmen had been in, the retired batters came back in. Long hit a personal best 42 not out providing great support for D. Boxell, who showed a great array of shots, finishing on 76 not out.
At stumps, Yarra Junction, with only eight batsmen, ended on 6/213.
