THE Mountain Area Ladies Tuesday Tennis Association (MALTTA) is mourning the death of member Melva Douglas.
Ms Douglas was a member of the club since it was first started 27 years ago.
She began her association with the club as a player and went on to serve on the committee as record secretary for 12 years.
A spokeswoman for MALTTA said the members were “deeply saddened to lose our dear Melva to cancer after a long hard fight”.
She said Ms Douglas had been a “wonderful hard-working committee member”.
Ms Douglas was responsible for recording match results and individual player scores as well as completing other tasks beyond her official duties.
“All of our members will miss her cheerful, helpful nature and she leaves a large hole in our association,” the spokeswoman said.
A memorial service was held for Ms Douglas late last year at Matthews Funeral Parlour.
