WARBURTON Quilters and Stitchers group has introduced a night-time session.
Group president Lea Ann Wright said the move was aimed at making the group more accessible to women who, for whatever reason, can’t spare the time during the day.
The club, which has 20 members from young women through to seniors, is broader than the name suggests.
It has members who knit, some who make handcrafted gift cards, others sew and, of course, there is always a place at the craft table for anyone hooked on crochet!
In another change, the group now meets at Yarra Burn Senior Citizens Centre at Yarra Junction which provides a more central meeting place for people living along the Warburton Highway.
Ms Wright said friendship is one of the biggest drawcards to the group.
“I think people just love sharing their skills and ideas. It creates a real bond,” she said.
Betty Vickers said she enjoys the energy and ideas the younger members bring to the group and the way everyone is made welcome – whatever age or interest.
The Warburton Quilters and Stitchers now meets every second Wednesday from 11am to 3.30pm and on the fourth Friday of each month from 6pm to 10pm.
