A CHRISTMAS celebration turned sour for a 41-year-old Healesville woman last week when Healesville Police confiscated her driving licence.
Sergeant Tony Van Gorp said the woman left a Christmas party and was on her way home when she was involved in a minor collision in a car park.
The woman was taken by police from her home to Lilydale Police Station where Sgt Van Gorp said a breathaliser test returned a result of more than three times the limit.
The woman will face charges in the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court in the new year.
Sgt Van Gorp said the incident came as a timely reminder that with Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties on most people’s calendars, the only way to avoid the “bloody idiot” tag associated with drink driving was to organise transport ahead of time.
“There are no circumstances in which it is OK to drive over the limit,” he said.
