More snowfall forecast for Mt Donna Buang
With only 2cm of snow on Mt Donna Buang by Sunday 5 June after last week’s flurry, this week has seen a welcome return to the winter wonder which will not be slowing down anytime soon.
Monday 6 June morning saw15cm of light powdery snow on the summit of the mountain, with snow as far down as the Ten Mile Car Park so four-wheel drives or snow chains were required to access anywhere past the top car park.
It was still steadily snowing by 5pm, with a cover of about 20cm, with a further 8-10cm forecast overnight.
The expected snow did come by the morning of Tuesday 7 June, with about 30cm of snow cover on the summit and some of the drifts at almost 70cm and counting.
The snow level is now resting at the Rainforest Gallery and about 1 to 1.5km below Ten mile car park has become hazardous. A grader came through in the morning to help ease travel.
Visitors are advised to bring a small shovel, leather gardening gloves to protect their hands and enough fuel, food and drinks in case they get stuck on the mountain.
