Micro

SHIRE of Yarra Ranges pet owners are being encouraged to take responsibility for their animals and get them micro-chipped.
The shire is holding a micro-chipping day on Saturday, 27 May at Lillydale Lake from 12.30pm to 4.30pm.
All micro-chipping is at the reduced price of $25 per pet.
Yarra Ranges councillor Terry Avery said micro-chipping pets helped authorities identify animals when they get lost.
“By owners listing their pet’s details on the National Central Animal Records Database, it allows animals to be identified anywhere in Australia and easily reunited with them,” he said.
“The process of micro-chipping is a quick and painless process for the animals, causing no discomfort.”
The day at Lillydale Lake will also include sessions on responsible pet ownership and care of your pet, with local vets and a shire ranger available to answer pet owners questions.
Cr Avery said each year approximately 350 cats and dogs end up in the shire’s pound.
