The Wesburn Bulldogs U15 women’s team have cemented their place in this year’s finals after an emphatic 12 point win over a gutsy Emerald Bombers outfit.
The Wessie Bulldogs started strong with plenty of run from the middle that helped set up Chelsea Tamme kicking the first major.
Emerald pegged them back and replied with a great goal and at quarter time scores were locked at 1.1.7 apiece.
The second quarter was all doggies as their running game lifted a notch.
Ella Wilkens was playing with a bit of Marlo magic and slotted an absolute cracker that put the Bulldogs up by eight points at half time.
Emerald came out firing on all cylinders in the third quarter, kicking a goal and two points, while keeping the Doggies scoreless.
At three quarters time, scores were locked up again, 15 apiece.
Coach Dale ‘Scooter’ Morris rallied the troops and praised the girls work rate and hard running efforts while encouraging them to keep competing to get the vital win.
With their season on the line and determination in their blood, the Bulldogs switched into overdrive with a dominant football display.
A quick snap goal by Marley Rayner put the Dogs in front then she scored another stunning goal to cement the win with another six pointer.
Final scores were Wesburn 4.3.27 to Emerald’s 2.3.15.
