SES snags in store

UPPER Yarra SES volunteers will be well fed during long emergencies with the acquisition of a shiny new barbecue.
Melbourne club director Martin Pretty from the International Order of Hoo Hoo was on hand at the Upper Yarra SES on Thursday 1 March to present the barbecue to the unit.
The Order of the Hoo Hoo is a social organisation of timber industry representatives that raises money to help different community groups, and the Upper Yarra SES was chosen as one of those important groups.
Mr Pretty said the money was raised by having golf days and raffles, and went towards the new barbecue and motors to make two of the unit’s roller doors automatic.
Upper Yarra SES volunteer Merril Brunt is head of the associate’s group, which looks after the welfare of members while out on longer jobs.
“We’d been talking about having a barbecue that could slide into the catering truck and this six burner barbecue is perfect,” she said.
