Engaging with young

YOUNG people in the Yarra Ranges are set to benefit from $12.3 million to support youth organisations and opportunities.
The Victorian Coalition funding for the Engage program has gone to support a number of local programs, including leadership, mentorship and peer education in Yarra Ranges Council youth programs, and funding for Eastern Access Community Health (EACH) to engage with young people as active, collaborative citizens and provide pathways for participation in education, employment and community.
Youth Affairs Minister Ryan Smith said more than 100 youth service providers, local government and non-profit organisations, including statewide initiatives would receive between $30,000 and $150,000 annually for three years to deliver vital projects.
“Engage aims to support programs that offer opportunities for young people to volunteer, participate in mentoring, receive study and career advice, and gain practical skills and training and increased connections with their community,” he said.
