A CREATIVE arts project is taking nine Yarra Valley artists, and their ‘students’ into some of the valley’s most magnificent forests.
Workshops in wildlife and creative photography, basketry, outdoor and pastel drawing, writing, singing and other arts began on Monday and will continue through to Friday of this week.
The workshops and the Wild Things, Wild Places exhibition and competition to be held at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in March are part of The Workshops in the Forests project.
“Many people don’t realise what we have at our doorstep,” said Kirsty Chalmers, project organiser and tutor.
“This is an opportunity for us to showcase the beauty of our forests as well as the extraordinary talent of our local artists.”
Places are available for the photography and poetry workshops on Wednesday, singing on Thursday and sculpture on Friday.
