“GIVE it a go … mate!” has to be the catch-phrase for Rochford Winery’s Australia Day In the Vineyards.
Rochford’s events team has lined up six hours of entertainment, activities and great Aussie food, to celebrate Australia’s national day as a community.
Entry is free, with plenty of free entertainment as well as some reasonably priced rides.
On a seriously funtastic scale of 10, Zorb Balls (walking on water in a plastic bubble!) have to come in at at least a 12!
Segway rides come a close second – just grab a helmet and give it a go.
For an equally exhilarating but less physical high, sign on for a helicopter joy ride. There is a fee for these rides. Free activities include a jumping castle for the kids, great home-grown country music by Ruckus and Geoff Achison, Aboriginal dancing, and a fireworks display at dusk.
There will be prizes and giveaways throughout the day, including a great prize for the person who impresses the judges with their version of Waltzing Matilda on the open mic. The winner will be invited backstage on 24 March to meet and have a photo taken with the legendary Jon Stevens and Noiseworks!
The restaurant will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there will be Aussie-style food available – including lamingtons, vanilla slices and pavlova, or pack a picnic to enjoy in the great outdoors.
There will be plenty of wine and other beverages on sale and no BYO alcohol is allowed.
For the perfect finale to Australia Day, stay on for a twilight screening of Australia’s hit film Red Dog. Special prices for admission on the night.
