THERE is plenty of action this month at Cunninghams Hotel in Yarra Junction.
The hotel is starting the Spring Racing season in style with a Melbourne Cup Eve dinner.
The evening of fun and frivolity off the field includes a three-course meal, Hors D’oeuvres and a drink upon arrival.
There will be plenty of dancing music, Calcutta auctions and fashions on the field.
The fun starts from 6pm on Monday 31 October, tickets cost $50 per person and spaces are limited so get in quick.
Meanwhile UGLY bartender Adrian Lowrie is again heading up a month of activities to fundraise for the Leukaemia Foundation.
UGLY stands for “Understanding, Generous, Likeable, You!” and Adrian is in the running to become UGLY Bartender of the Year if he can raise the most money.
Adrian first went into the competition last year as a practical joke, but once he read into it he was keen to join in.
“I have a good friend who’s sick from leukaemia and we’re in the public eye, so what better way to raise money?” he said.
Last year Cunninghams raised more than $6000 and the owner, known to the locals as Trotter, said he was keen to top that donation this year. “We’re going to have plenty of raffles and fundraisers, including a kid’s day out on Sunday 27 November,” he said.
“We had a fantastic time last year and invite everybody back to do it again.” Children are invited to the family fun day to toss horse shoes, climb aboard a fire truck and play many other fun games.
While the fundraisers are going, the hotel will have live bands on the weekend afternoons from 2pm till 5pm.
A new summer menu is beginning on 1 November, and patrons are invited to book now for Christmas functions, with traditional Christmas lunches available on request.
