Value report presents one vision

The Values and Vision Project committee, which was formed in 2004, will release its final report at a community celebration day to be held on Sunday, 30 April.
Over the past two years the project has involved a range of intensive community consultation processes culminating in a survey of residents in the 3775 post code earlier this year.
The project’s final report will include details of the survey results as well as an overview of community values and vision workshops and interviews with community members conducted over the past two years.
Project coordinator Hannah Sky said: “The community of Yarra Glen and surrounding districts has participated in the Values and Vision Project in a way that clearly indicates widespread interest and a commitment to our shared life and future.
Ms Sky said the report would be launched by Shire of Yarra Ranges councillor Jeanette McRae at the Community Celebration Day on 30 April to be held from 11.30am to 2.30pm at the Yarra Glen Memorial Hall and McKenzie Reserve.
Coinciding with the release of the report, the Yarra Glen and district community is being invited to elect a new nine-member township group.
Throughout the duration of the Values and Vision Project, the town has been guided by the Interim Township Steering Committee which formed in 2002.
The committee’s chairman Malcolm Calder urged residents to take part in electing a new group to guide the district into the future.
“It is important that we have a Township Group, drawn from residents in the 3775 postal district, that reflects our diversity as a community and takes an active part in decision making in relation to the future of the town and district,” he said.
Mr Calder said the Township Group would be elected by residents of the 3775 postal district attending the Community Day on 30 April.
Ms Sky said a newsletter, outlining the proposed structure and role of the new Township Group and including a nomination form, would be sent out to all households in the 3775 post code area.
She said nominations should be addressed to the Yarra Glen Values and Vision Project and sent or delivered to the Yarra Glen Post Office by close of business on Thursday, 27 April.
