TOYOTA owners are embracing the latest technology in accessorising their vehicles, according to figures released in February by Toyota Australia.
Newer Toyota genuine accessories such as satellite navigation systems, ParkAssist reverse parking sensors and rear seat entertainment have continued to rise in popularity with sales figures for 2005 indicating significant increased over the previous year.
Sales of satellite navigation systems have skyrocketed with 2565 sold in 2005, a 61 per cent increase on 2004.
The days of looking in shop windows, or recruiting the help of a helpful passer-by to help with reverse parking have also given way to new technology with 8855 sales of ParkAssist reverse parking sensors also on the increase – up 10 per cent on 2004.
Toyota Australia’s divisional manager for Customer Services Division Alan Porich attributes the embracing of these new accessories to customers who are increasingly technology-savvy.
“They are warming to the benefits of satellite navigation and ParkAssist as the concepts become more familiar,” he said.
“Customers are increasingly looking to accessorise their vehicles with more technological products, offering a greater level of comfort and enjoyment.”
At the low-tech end of the market, Toyota says it has had increases in sales of bull bars, towbars and tyres.
