Pythons celebrate after tough battle

By Rebecca Torsello
THE Monbulk Rangers under-18 Pythons defeated South Melbourne 5-4 in a hard-fought victory on the weekend.
South Melbourne passed the ball around meticulously but failed to make the most of its chances.
Its goals came mainly from an incredibly fast attack and, at times, Monbulk made the side look good by simply watching them pass the ball around.
Hard work from Matt Soeteman and Adam Nicholas in defence and Geordie Scott and Patrick O’Loughlin up front helped Monbulk win the match.
The Monbulk Rangers men’s Forest defeated Donvale 2-1 and continued their reign at the top of the table.
The side worked well as a team, playing to its strengths, and came away still undefeated. Joshua Woischuk played an outstanding game.
The women’s reserves and seniors gave Bayswater hell with an 8-0 victory for the reserves, and a 10-0 win for the firsts.
The reserves dominated possession, making great plays through the midfield and, despite the eight goals scored, many more chances went begging.
The seniors played much in the same fashion, with deft passing through the midfield allowing for a dominating performance.
Both teams were slowed by the muddiness of the pitch, something Monbulk is no longer used to, thanks to an artificial home ground surface.
The weekend’s play saw fantastic results for both teams, which are well on the way to scoring top ladder positions at the end of the year.
