Tough day for Daniel Sanders

It was a tough day for Daniel Sanders on Stage Nine of the Dakar Rally, dropping to eight overall after a 16th-placed finish.

On his Facebook page, Sander said it wasn’t a great day.

“I started off with good speed and was up in the top pack, until my body started to really struggle in the camel grass,” he said.

“Overall I lost a bunch of time which equates to about 19 minutes.”

Sanders is now 59 minutes and 47 minutes behind race leader American Ricky Brabec.

Stage 10 is a shorter stage, consisting of only 229km of riding in Al Ula.
