Netballers wanted

SHERBROOKE Netball Association is looking for new players and teams to join its community-oriented competition.
Players in the association range from six-year-olds to adults and a mixed competition is also on offer, ensuring males can join in.
Sherbrooke Netball Association is affiliated with Netball Victoria and has run netball competitions in the hills since the early 1970s.
During the ’70s, there was a high demand for a locally run competition, so with the foresight of surrounding clubs including Emerald, Cockatoo, Belgrave South, Monbulk, Sassafras and Olinda, the SNA was formed.
The Sherbrooke Netball Association has worked tirelessly over the years to offer a competition that is played locally, run locally and supports local business.
It has been dealt some blows over the years with the departure of some foundation clubs, but its original focus still remains; delivering a competition that offers a fun, fair, positive and family-orientated netball environment.
The association’s member teams include Belgrave South, Emerald, Gembrook, Macclesfield, United Netball Club of Cockatoo, Silvan and a senior team from Beaconsfield.
Parents and players alike love the family involvement created by each club.
The players return because they genuinely feel like a part of the association, as all clubs work closely together to ensure the best competition for all players.
Parents also enjoy the luxury of not having to travel too far to get to games or training sessions.
Sherbrooke Netball Association is looking for new players and teams for the 2011 season to ensure it can continue to service the community with a local, convenient netball competition.
All players, of any skill level, experience, age or gender are welcome. The association is also looking for new umpires and coaches.
The SNA competition starts on 19 March at Belgrave South Netball courts. Those wanting to join as a single player, should contact their local club official.
Those with a team or several teams interested in joining the competition, should contact SNA secretary Darlene Elder on 0400 166 339.
Club contacts are: Belgrave South, Jackie Maling 0439 300 332; Cockatoo, Heather Carver 0425 762 333; Emerald, Jacqui Cutler 0408 432 901; Gembrook, Cath Trott 0408 359 059; Macclesfield, Susan Williams 0408 880 338; Silvan/Monbulk: Joan Bradshaw 9737 9623.
