THE language of love on Valentine’s Day is, and always will be, red roses.
“It will be red roses until the end of time,” said Yarra Glen florist Allie Dempster.
She should know. Allie has been catering to the desires of love-struck Valentines for 14 years.
“You get the occasional request for lilies, or coloured roses, but it’s red roses that signify the day for most people,” she said.
And, ‘most people’ are not just the teenagers with stars in their eyes.
Allie said Valentine’s Day is about tradition and expressing love.
“We get people of all ages keen to surprise someone on Valentine’s Day,” she said.
“It’s a day women expect to get something and men who love their partners will do whatever it takes to keep them happy,” she adds with a romantic glint in her eye.
Allie also has a good selection of quality Chocolatier chocolates, balloons and gifts to add a little something extra to the Valentine moment.
Allie took over Shrinking Violets – due soon for a name-change to Flowers of Yarra Glen – just seven months ago, so it is her first Valentine’s Day and sure to be a busy one.
With more than 14 years’ experience working with the leaders in wedding, event and corporate floristry in Melbourne, as well as managing the flower department of one of the UK’s leading event companies, Allie is venturing into that market in the Yarra Valley and beyond.
“The local people love their flower shop and have been very supportive and happy with the changes I have made,” she said.
“The other side of the company is weddings and corporate work and that is starting to go really well too, so I am looking forward to great things for Flowers of Yarra Glen.”
For Valentines Day, Allie is offering a complimentary bag of chocolate hearts for anyone who places their Valentine’s Day order by 4pm on Friday 11 February.
Delivery can be arranged … to anywhere! So surprise your special Valentine on Monday, with a red rose … or a dozen!
