Shops with the lot

YARRA Glen traders have embraced a window of opportunity to paint the town red … and green, and silver, and gold!
The Yarra Glen Business and Tourism Association is encouraging shop and business owners to get into the spirit of Christmas with a Christmas window competition.
The result is some beautifully decorated windows … lots of flashing Christmas lights, tinsel and baubles leaving no doubt … it’s Christmas in Yarra Glen!
The creator of the winning window will receive a $150 voucher towards a Christmas party – but the real winners are the public, which gets to enjoy the spectacle.
“It’s all about celebrating Christmas and creating a festive atmosphere for our customers, and for us,” said YGBTA member Cindy Watts who runs Little Tackers’ Treasures.
Melbourne shoppers Karen and Shirley were delighted with their Christmas shopping in ‘the Glen’ singing the praises of the great mix of shops and relaxed atmosphere and just enjoying the opportunity to share an afternoon together away from the hustle and bustle of the larger shopping centres.
“We love Yarra Glen,” said Karen. “There are some unique shops with things you just don’t get down in Melbourne.”
Local little tackers Nicholai Johnson-Shortis and sister Emma were surprised to find a life-size jolly old Santa, adding a bit of Christmas fun to their countdown to the big day.
Yarra Glen is a fabulous place to make a start on your Christmas list, and combined with a relaxing lunch, morning or afternoon tea, it’s a great way to make Christmas shopping enjoyable and fun.
