AS THE name suggests, Yarra Valley Information Technology is the one-stop shop for all computer and electrical sales, service and repairs.
Formerly known as Peder Holton Electronics, Yarra Valley Information Technology is the region’s leading computer sales and service centre.
Mr Holton sells an extensive range of new computers, including software and hardware, specialising in HP and Acer brands.
“We also sell our own pre-built systems and can build systems to suit customers’ individual needs,” Mr Holton said.
Yarra Valley Information Technology is also a good place to start when you are looking to get connected to the internet.
“We are actively associated with two service providers, BigPond and Virtual Access, and can help customers get connected to the internet quickly and without fuss,” Mr Holton said.
Yarra Valley Information Technology’s retail outlet, on the corner of Maroondah Highway and St Leonard’s Road in Healesville, also offers public internet access.
“People are welcome to come down to the shop and use the public internet set up. Our rates are very affordable,” Mr Holton said.
One of the biggest strengths of Yarra Valley Information Technology is the fact that it is local, Mr Holton said.
“Customers can feel secure in knowing that when they buy locally they get local support and service,” he said.
“If you buy down the line then you’ll have to go back down the line for any repairs or problems.
“One of our biggest advantages is that we are right here for our customers.”
Mr Holton, who started up his business from home in 1989, has first-hand experience with the needs and demands of running home based and small commercial businesses.
“We know what it is like to work from home and to run a small business.
“You need reliable technology to keep the business running and keep you connected,” he said.
“Much of our work involves going out to customer’s homes or businesses to install, repair and service computer network systems and we travel right across the Yarra Valley.”
Mr Holton said that when he started up his business it was predominantly focused on electrical repairs.
However, the focus of the business has now changed to keep up with the changing times.
“With the uptake of personal computers into homes and businesses, our business has grown and information technology is now the majority of the work we do,” he said.
“However, we still offer expert electrical repair and installation services.”
Steve Laurence is Yarra Valley Information Technology’s resident electrical repair and installation specialist.
“Since the new transmitter was installed at Mt St Leonard, a lot of people are wanting to install antennae so they can pick up SBS,” Mr Holton said.
“Steve and I will help out in anyway we can. Give us a call and we’ll see what we can do.”
