Season ends on successful note

By Russell Bennett
THE Dandenong Ranges Junior Football League (DRJFL) is thrilled with yet another successful season.
Grand finals for all age groups were held on the weekend, capping off a great year for the league’s players, administrators and coaches.
League president John Myers said all the hard work put in during the 2010 season came about after a pro-active meeting involving the executive committee, coaches, and team managers.
“It just set the tone for the season ahead,” he said.
“It mainly outlined game-day and training responsibilities for all the new coaches and personnel.”
The DRJFL empowered its clubs to handle their own responsibilities without league interference and Myers said this was key to the league’s strength.
Though the league’s showcase games were held on the weekend, there were many other highlights throughout the season, including both the under 11 and under 15 representative teams winning the Victorian Country Football League (VCFL) championships.
Mr Myers said the league’s aim for next season is to hold more coaching seminars based on life skills for its 1960 young players.
“If we can educate the educators, we’re in great shape.”
