Bullseye for all sides

FIVE Monbulk soccer sides all had wins in round nine contests on the weekend.
The men’s Arrows defeated Bayswater Strikers 4-2, Josh Newman scoring two goals and Jack Kirkham and James Hulbert contributing the other two.
Incidentally, the referee assisted Hulbert’s goal as it rebounded off him into the net. The team played well together and there a lot of great performances.
Meanwhile, despite a slow start, the senior women defeated South Yarra 2-0.
The first half was a bit of a battle with neither side able to gain the upper hand.
Aliesha Whetham was the first to score, striking a goal into the far post.
More sustained pressure throughout the second half brought many chances and finally Michelle De Boer was rewarded for her hard work with a goal from the top of the penalty box. Best on ground was Darcie Sands.
The women’s Reserves defeated South Yarra 1-0, with Adele Kirkham scoring the goal after the keeper fumbled her first strike.
The Reserves lost some of their intensity in the second half, allowing South Yarra to look dangerous at times.
Keeper Georgia Cramer played a great game but went off injured in the second half. The structures returned in the second half and the team managed to hold on to a 1-0 victory. Best on ground was Natalie Allan.
The Monbulk Rangers under 15 Shredders’ played away against Berwick United in muddy conditions, but managed to take home a 3-2 win in a hard-fought contest.
Goals from captain Abe Chirgwin and Jake Spencer saw the Shredders fight back after being behind. Jarrod Brown also contributed a goal, his first for the season, from a beautifully taken free kick.
The under 14 Pumas easily defeated Eltham 9-1 in a very one-sided match.
The Pumas dominated possession and were always first to the ball, using deft passing to assist in the victory.
Michael Park scored an outstanding six goals. Other goalscorers were Max Rechner (2) and Nic Broomhead.
