Wednesday 16 February:
Henry & Mavis Sanders 3-person Ambrose- this time-honoured board event was played in pleasant conditions, on a course that is currently giving up some terrific scores almost every week! No exceptions here. The winning team of John Haynes, Ross Machar, Rob Hendy & Wayne Kempton took out this year’s prize with a stunning Nett 50.6, some 6 clear shots ahead of the runners-up. That team consisted of Phil Garside, Trevor Porter & Kevin Bargar, who recorded a none-too-shabby Nett 56.5. My wife has insisted that I report her team of Trish Eldridge, Vicki Hottes and Ray “Happy” Gilmore finished 3rd, with a Nett 57.2! The daily NTP’s were won by Your Loyal Scribe (3rd), Foxy Peter (5th), Neil “Rangers” Leckenby (9th), A.J. Johnston (12th) and Kevin Bargar (15th).
TWILIGHT:
As we hurtle on towards the famous Shootout, scheduled for late March, points are at a premium now, to propel certain players into that Top 10 final. And doing his chances no harm this week was Wayne Kempton, who won the night with a solid total of 21 points. Valuable points, Shaggy! The unlucky runner-up was Rob Hendy, with 20 points, which any other day may have won the voucher! If you played this day and amassed 18 plus points, you are owed a ball. NTP winners were the fabulously talented Kim Kennedy (12th), Junior Spenceley (15th) and to Paul Osbourn for a superb 2nd shot at the tough 13th.
Saturday 19 February:
The Ralph Logan Memorial Day- Ralph was a popular member who passed on too young a few years ago. His family, led by his wife De, has kindly sponsored this individual Stableford event in his memory. The equal best score on the day, and the winner of the A-Grade voucher, was Meredith Nursey, with an impressive total of 39 points. Good work, Bagel! It is ironic to note that Meredith lives just two doors away from De, so the trophy will stay in the neighbourhood! Rodney Kempton won B-Grade, with an equally impressive 39 points, making sure that older brother, Wayne, doesn’t steal all of the limelight, after his efforts at Twilight! The runner-up on the day was the irrepressible Ossie McClay, with 38 solid points. The ball rundown, also kindly sponsored by the Logan family, extended to 36 only! NTP’s were won by Lee Creedy (3rd), Stuart Hawke (5th), Aaron Henderson (9th), “Old Man River” Hubbard (12th) and to Clint-Toohey (15th, and for the nearest 2nd shot on the 4th hole!)
The Committee, and members, would like to thank De, and the whole Logan family, for their continued support for this now popular event!
