Upper Yarra students to be displayed in a Creative Showcase

Yarra Ranges VCE and VCAL students have been given the opportunity to display their artwork in 2022’s Creative Showcase at The Memo in Healesville.

The exhibition will take place from Friday 4 February to Sunday 27 February, hosted by the Yarra Ranges council in collaboration with Burrinja Cultural Centre, aiming to showcase the works of art and studio art students.

It will contain pieces of varying subject matter conveyed through many different mediums, such as photography, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, and drawing.

The showcase will also provide insight into how the young students got through studies during such a difficult time from the pandemic.

For students such as these young artists, it was understandably very difficult undergoing VCE during the pandemic and hard to keep spirits high and remain confident in their abilities, as Tara Hamer of Little Yarra Steiner school in Yarra Junction discovered.

“I struggled a lot with finding any motivation or inspiration to progress in the subject. I felt artistically burnt out. It was overwhelming to taint a clean page with my art, I didn’t feel good enough. ” Hamer said.
