Travis did the trick

IF YOUR parents named you Travis, and you were at the Yarra Valley Cup on Sunday, the chances are that you came away a very happy punter.
Craig Newitt rode Tasmanian outsider Tibooburra Travis to an against-the-odds win to pay $36.10 on the TAB.
The six-year-old, trained by Cranbourne trainer Chris Hyland, performed beautifully to come in ahead of Testa Jesta and Elmore in the strong 14-horse event.
Accepting the NMIT Yarra Valley Cup owners Bart Radings and Gloria Barlow- Radings were ecstatic.
“I’ve always wanted to win a cup and we’ve come over from Tasmania and achieved that,” Mr Radings said.
“He’s a horse that’s improved; we said this was going to be his best year and it certainly looks like that’s the case,” he added.
Mr Radings commiserated with those who had not had the foresight (or the right name) to back the six-year-old.
“I didn’t have much on him either,” he said.
He will however return to the Apple Isle with $48,000 in prize money and the cup they had hoped for.
